1) For my second independent study I plan on doing more volunteer work for Fran's House and Rudy's Kitchen, my service learning office for 30 hours additional hours. I will continue to help establish their new non-profit to make it as successful as possible and gain all the knowledge I need in order to better understand my topic.
2) My independent study relates to my EQ because this organization is in the field of domestic abuse and allows me to have hands-on experience with domestic abuse cases and women. I will be learning all about women who have left their abusive relationship, why, and even cases in which they return. Fran's House works with clients who have left the relationship or are in the process, so I get to witness what workers must do to encourage these women that they are making the right choices and to stay strong.
This sounds good...I don't remember the Rudy's Kitchen part...do they hire victims of domestic abuse?
