5-Minute Presentation Rough Draft

  • Objective: Students will learn the seriousness of domestic violence and all the different aspects of it. They will also learn more about what teen dating violence is and why it is such an issue.
  • Procedure:
1.     Greet everybody and introduce my topic
2.     Ask the class what they think domestic violence is
3.     Explain what I am more specifically interested in focusing on
4.     Give a definition that I agree with about what domestic violence is
5.     Show them my poster of pictures and statistics on it
6.     Read each statistic
7.     Talk about how some of the numbers may seem insignificant but how much of an impact abuse can have
8.     Remind the audience that if they suspect anyone to be suffering from abuse in anyway to not let it go unnoticed
9.     Thank everybody for listening and ask if there are any questions

  • Check for Understanding: I will check for understanding by asking students if they have any questions and clarifying them. Since I will also be asking students questions about my topic, I will be able to see what their thoughts and beliefs are, helping me see what things I might need to clarify and address.
  • Resources/Materials:
    • Poster board
    • Light

  1. What kind of light do you need? Check for understanding does not mean you ask if people have questions. You must ask them questions about what you have presented.
