What is your topic?
I am interested in doing my senior project on domestic violence, mainly focusing on the psychological impact a battered person goes through, for example, what keeps them in the relationship or going back to it. Though, I am torn between that and child abuse. If I were to do that, I would focus on emotional abuse, because I feel that does not get talked about enough.


Why did you choose this topic?
I chose this topic because all throughout my life I have always been curious about people and why they do the things they do. I have  always wanted to help people in some way with complicated issues like this, and I feel by learning about abuse and presenting on it, I can raise awareness about the issue. Experience also plays a part in why I chose this topic, giving me the drive to study this topic all year.


What do you hope to accomplish after studying this topic all year?
I hope to accomplish awareness in my community and enough strength to those in abusive relationships to get out. I also wish to get people more open to talking about abuse, giving the battered more of an opportunity to speak out.
