Service Learning 10 Hour Progress Check

(1) Summary of Services (what have you done so far? be specific an use examples)
For my service learning I work with Fran's House,  an organization that aims towards helping all different type of people that currently do not have health care. However, since this organization collaborates with many other places, an array of domestic abuse shelters send their clients to Fran's House. Since this company just opened this year, I spend a lot of my time assisting the social workers that serve domestic abuse patients. I also help by organizing files, assisting patients children, and by making clients feel at home.

(2) Total Hours and Log and/or schedule of when you go
As my dates and hours are flexible, I normally go in on Mondays-Thursdays 2 to 5 and started December 27th. Depending on the circumstances, I might be asked to work on the weekends as well. As of right now, I have accumulated 45 hours. 

(3) Most significant thing you have learned from the experience and why
The most significant thing I have learned from this experience is that even though these women seem like they live or have lived a "normal"  lifestyle, once you get to know their story or current living situation, they can be far from having the ideal life you may have thought they live. This has been the most significant thing I have learned so far because this may explain why ignorance is so great and shelters are not provided in most areas. If women who have suffered from domestic abuse had a certain look or were clearly disadvantaged, such as the homeless, the issue may be talked about more widely.
